MUSIC FOR WARMONGER<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Music is a very important element when it comes to setting the mood for a game, whether it’s a role-playing game, a board game, or a wargame like ours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From simple ambient sounds that immerse the characters in a moldy cave to cheerful compositions for a relaxed game, a soundtrack that accompanies the players for a while is always welcome.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The theme that Tim Wright<\/strong> (aka CoLD SToRAGE) has composed exclusively<\/a> for Warmonger <\/strong>is a good example of the tone and atmosphere we are looking for in this game. Reminiscent of those 8- and 16-bit video games that transported us to fantastic worlds, dreamlike environments, and dreamy settings not without danger. A perfect fusion of melancholy, fantasy and adventure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Given that Warmonger <\/strong>is set in a kind of legendary and dark Stone Age, a regression to the origins of man when he fought for survival against unknown and destructive forces, its soundtrack must be composed of primitive rhythms, percussion, kettledrums, bells, horns, and guttural sounds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this regard, we cannot fail to recommend Paleowolf <\/a><\/strong>and his multi-platform project to create spiritual, shamanic, and prehistoric music that connects with the rituals of antiquity. Apart from the website he has a Patreon platform, a YouTube channel, a Facebook page, and a Spotify account where he adds all his creations (which are not few). My favorite is undoubtedly Cenozoic<\/strong>, an album that is available on his page for \u20ac3 (or more, if you want to voluntarily contribute extra to support his work) and whose download includes a PDF with information about prehistoric animals and a deck of 10 cards with matching totemic runes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When it comes to inspiring music to listen to outside of the game, whether at work or painting miniatures, styles are as varied as individual tastes. Whether it’s electronic music, heavy metal, progressive rock, or psychedelic rock, each style can offer something to every player that evokes the landscapes, tribes, or events of the Unholy Lands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Orion <\/strong>by Metallica, Supernature <\/strong>by Cerrone (actually, the entire Cerrone 3<\/em> album), Warsong <\/strong>by The Cure, Wizard of War<\/strong> by Orchid (the entire The Mouths of Madness<\/em> album, for that matter), or rock classics like Rainbow and their album Rising<\/em>, full of fabulous lyrics and orchestral arrangements that are a milestone in epic lyrical rock. Also Wardruna<\/a>, with their heavy, guttural, and nostalgic Nordic folk <\/em>music that speaks of the lost connection with the earth and the mythological beings that inhabited it. Mountain Witch’s stoner rock <\/em>also has very suggestive songs, such as At the mountains of madness<\/strong> or Stone age funeral<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But going back to the beginning and the influence of those video games that captured our imagination as children and turned us into the late-night geeks we are today, we have prepared a small royalty-free soundtrack based on Tim Wright’s theme with 12 short ambient songs (barely 25 minutes in total) to set the mood.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
